Trust in God, the Great Physician
Trust in God can be important for pain relief and general health. There are several factors about our relationship with God and our attitude toward ourselves and those around us that can affect our health and help to keep us from both emotional and physical pain.
Attitude of Gratitude Our attitude and general outlook can have a large effect on our stress level. The question is: Is the glass ½ empty or ½ full? We decide that ourselves in every situation.
Forgiveness It is very comforting to know that you are all forgiven, that you do not have to have guilt over your past. Unload your burden of guilt and also do not harbor grudges against others. If you do not deal with this area you may add to your level of stress and greatly reduce your chances of physical recovery. Here is an excellent article on
Biblical forgiveness
that will encourage you.
Correctly understanding God's character
can also greatly improve our relationship with Him and our peace of mind.
Obedience God gave us health guidelines in the first place. It makes sense that if will follow them (basically, the manufacturer's directions) we will have good health.
Benevolence Isaiah 58:6-7 speaks of things that we can do to help those that are less fortunate than ourselves, then in v8 it says
"Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward." (Isaiah 58:8)
Doing something good for someone else does something for ourselves and there are scientifically-proven health benefits to those warm fuzzy feelings. Seeing others that are perhaps less fortunate than ourselves can help us to have a sense of gratitude.
